Follow the true life story of King Robert the Bruce, including the events recreated in the recent Netflix original: Outlaw King. This tour offers the ideal mix of real life locations featuring in the life of The Bruce combined with the filming locations used in the Netflix production.
The tour can be delivered as a two day package or extended to three days to include historic locations relevant to earlier events in the Scottish Wars of independence featuring William Wallace.
Day One/Two - Beginning the day enjoying the stunning Gothic architecture of the University of Glasgow, recognisable as Greyfriars Kirk in Outlaw King along with nearby medieval Glasgow Cathedral where the Bishops held their secret meetings. Heading for the gateway to the Scottish Highlands for a visit to Bannockburn Battlefield, the site of Robert the Bruce's most famous victory in 1314 where the battle is recreated in virtual reality. Onward to Doune Castle, famous in its own right for its role in Scottish medieval history but also identifiable for its portrayal of Douglas Castle in Outlaw King along with Stirling Castle itself which played a prominent role during the wars and was also bombarded by the fearsome trebuchet War Wolf on the orders of Edward I.
Day Two/Three - On the outskirts of Stirling we ascend the Wallace Monument, upon Abbey Craig which stands in memory of William Wallace and in particular his role in the early part of the Scottish Wars of Independence. From here we head Eastwards to Dunfermline Abbey which featured in the film but also provides the true final resting place for King Robert the Bruce himself. We head across the Forth Estuary with a chance to see the modern engineering marvels including the World Heritage Site Forth Rail Bridge to Blackness Castle which acted as Elizabeth's prison when captured by the English in Outlaw King before completing our historic journey with a visit to Linlithgow Palace which provided the site for Roberts coronation in the film before returning you to your chosen accommodation or onward travel arrangements.
